We count sides, not structures: one billboard often carries two or more. We'll check your dates against your list before quoting.

Cities

Cities with billboards and screens

The widest choice is in the largest cities, but there are boards in regional capitals and small towns too. The biggest are below; the full list is at the end of the page.

Formats

Outdoor advertising formats in United Arab Emirates

13 formats, and Billboards is the most common. Each format links through to the city where there are most of them.

Prices

What outdoor advertising costs and what drives the price

There is no single national rate card: a billboard on an arterial road and a billboard on a regional bypass are priced differently. Rate-card prices sit in the city catalog, and a manager puts the final quote together in AED.

Format and whose ground it stands on

A board of the same size is priced differently depending on who owns the ground: the Sheikh Zayed Road right of way, municipal land and a facade inside a free zone sell on different terms. Large formats along the main routes are scarce.

The emirate, not the city

Dubai and Abu Dhabi sit above Sharjah, Ajman and the northern emirates. A nationwide campaign is priced emirate by emirate: each has its own permit and its own rate card, so the budget adds up from seven parts, not one.

Digital screen or printed board

A screen is sold as impressions in a loop; a printed board holds the site for the whole term.

The season here is winter

Demand runs high from October to April: those months carry the exhibitions, the forums and the tourist peak. In July and August the city empties into the heat, and space is easiest to negotiate.

Approval lead times

A complete application is decided within ten working days — the term set by the decree — and that clock runs before print, not alongside it. A campaign across several emirates starts it once per emirate.

Term and volume

The longer the campaign and the more addresses in the request, the lower the price per space.

How it works

How to rent a billboard: four steps

Four steps from choosing addresses to launch. We'll confirm free dates and terms before anything is signed.

  1. Choosing sites

A city, a format, a district or specific addresses on the map. What you tick goes into a list.

  2. Request

Send us the list and your campaign dates. A manager replies during business hours and clarifies the brief.

  3. Quote and hold

We check availability with the board owners and price the quote. If an address is taken, we'll try to negotiate the current advertiser's move off it, and if that doesn't work, find you an equivalent board nearby.

  4. Artwork and launch

We'll tell you the artwork specs, print, and install. After launch we send a placement report.

Questions

Common questions about advertising in United Arab Emirates

Dubai and Abu Dhabi sit above the northern emirates, and large structures along the main highways are scarce, which the rate card reflects. The monthly price is on each surface card and invoices are issued in AED. Send the addresses and the dates and we will quote with the volume discount applied.

Rules

What can stand between you and the address you want

4 reasons a board can turn out to be unavailable or the artwork can fail approval.

Half the medium has to be Arabic

Arabic is the main language of an advertisement: its text occupies at least half the area of the advertising medium, sits in the upper section or on the right-hand side, and must be free of grammatical and spelling mistakes. English runs beside it, never instead of it. The composition is built around that before the first sketch.

Dubai Decree No. (6) of 2020 Regulating Advertisements, Article 11checked August 26, 2026

The permit comes from whoever owns the place

There is no single advertising window in Dubai: the permit comes from the entity that owns the place. A structure in the road right of way goes to the RTA, one on vacant land, a building or the coast to the municipality, one inside a free zone such as the DIFC to the zone authority. A mixed list goes to several windows.

Dubai Decree No. (6) of 2020 Regulating Advertisements, Articles 4 and 5checked August 26, 2026

Some places take a medium only by the Manual

The decree lists the addresses open only under the rules of the Manual: historical buildings, places of worship and cemeteries, road signs and traffic lights, trees and residential facades. An address like that is checked before it reaches the quote.

Dubai Decree No. (6) of 2020 Regulating Advertisements, Article 10checked August 26, 2026

Content that conflicts comes down at your cost

The content of an advertisement must comply with Islamic Sharia and must not conflict with public order, public morals or the traditions of the emirate, and the claims must be accurate and honest. An advertisement already up that fails this is ordered down at the permit holder's cost. Name a sensitive category before the shortlist.

If the address you want is taken

A booked board is not a refusal. Your manager makes three moves in a row, and the first is an attempt to free up the exact address you asked for. In the UAE a swap has its own price: the permit comes from whoever owns the place, so we look for the neighbour under the same authority.

  1. We ask the current advertiser

We offer whoever is on the board a site that is just as good. If they agree to move, the address opens up for your campaign. The choice is theirs, so we do not promise it — but we always ask.

  2. We match the address inside the same authority

We look for the equivalent address next door inside the same permitting lane: a roadside structure stays with the RTA, land or a building stays with the municipality, a free zone stays with its own authority. Crossing from the right of way into a free zone means a fresh permit and a fresh clock, so we flag that kind of swap separately and put it in the quote only once you approve it.

  3. We keep the address on watch

The board you wanted stays on our watch list. The moment it frees up we tell you, and you get the first offer.

All of this is part of the placement desk's work and costs you nothing.

  • Handled by the placement desk
  • A swap does not change your quote
  • Same permitting authority
