We count sides, not structures: one billboard often carries two or more. We'll check your dates against your list before quoting.

Cities

Cities with billboards and screens

The widest choice is in the largest cities, but there are boards in regional capitals and small towns too.

Where the billboards and screens stand

The number on a marker is how many billboards and screens the city has.

Formats

Outdoor advertising formats in France

3 formats, and Billboards is the most common.

Prices

What outdoor advertising costs and what drives the price

There is no single national rate card: a billboard on an arterial road and a billboard on a regional bypass are priced differently. Rate-card prices sit in the city catalog, and a manager puts the final quote together in EUR.

Format and size

The national ceiling for advertising on a wall or fence is 10.50 m² and 7.5 m above ground; in agglomerations under 10,000 inhabitants it is 4.70 m². A local rulebook may cut that further. Large formats are scarce here, and a site for one costs more.

Place and traffic

Paris and its inner ring cost the most, Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse sit lower, smaller cities lower still. Inside a city the gap between a retail street and a residential quarter is wider than the gap between two cities.

Digital screen or printed board

A screen is sold as impressions in a loop; a printed board carries one creative for the whole term.

Season

The September rentrée and the pre-New-Year weeks are taken earlier than any other window, and there is almost no discounting in them. August is the opposite — the freest time of the French year.

Its own rulebook (RLP) in every conurbation

The RLP is written at intercommunality level and only tightens the national rules: size, lighting, sometimes the format itself. A plan across a conurbation passes through several of them, and some addresses drop out at the check. Build the list with spares.

Term and volume

The longer the campaign and the more addresses in the request, the lower the price per space.

How it works

How to rent a billboard: four steps

Four steps from choosing addresses to launch. We'll confirm free dates and terms before anything is signed.

  1. Choosing sites

A city, a format, a district or specific addresses on the map. What you tick goes into a list.

  2. Request

Send us the list and your campaign dates. A manager replies during business hours and clarifies the brief.

  3. Quote and hold

We check availability with the board owners and price the quote. If an address is taken, we'll try to negotiate the current advertiser's move off it, and if that doesn't work, find you an equivalent board nearby.

  4. Artwork and launch

We'll tell you the artwork specs, print, and install. After launch we send a placement report.

Questions

Common questions about advertising in France

Paris with its inner ring costs the most, then Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse, and in smaller cities a site costs less still. The cost of a month sits on the surface card where the owner has published it, and the invoice comes in euro. Send the address list and the dates and we will quote with the volume discount applied.

Rules

What can stand between you and the address you want

4 reasons a board can turn out to be unavailable or the artwork can fail approval.

The local rulebook has the last word, not the code

The Environmental Code sets the frame; the specifics come from the local advertising regulation, the RLP. It is written by the intercommunality that runs the local plan, or by the commune where there is none. The RLP may tighten the national prescriptions; it may not loosen them. Check the address list before the budget is signed off.

Lit advertising goes dark from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.

A national rule: lit structures, digital screens included, are switched off between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. The exception covers airports and transport shelters, where a screen runs during service hours and on still images only. A night window bought on a neighbouring market does not exist here.

Alcohol may be described, not celebrated

Alcohol advertising is allowed, but the law lists what may appear in it: strength, origin, composition, the maker, the region and the awards. The lifestyle around the drink is not on that list. The health warning about abuse is mandatory.

The copy on the board is French

The Toubon law makes French compulsory in advertising. A foreign slogan is allowed alongside a translation, and the French presentation must be at least as legible and intelligible as the foreign one. For an international campaign that means a proper French version of the artwork, not a line of small print.

A taken address is a date, not a refusal

We pull up the current booking and name the day the address comes free, and in parallel we look for a swap inside the same local rulebook. Within one RLP the size and lighting limits are identical, so the artwork and the quote stay as they are.

  1. We look up the release date

We ask the media owner when the current booking ends. If that day falls inside your window, we queue the address and hold it for you until the quote is confirmed.

  2. We look for a swap inside the same intercommunality

A neighbouring address governed by the same RLP carries the same size limit and the same lighting hours, so the artwork does not have to be redrawn. Crossing the conurbation boundary means another rulebook and usually another poster size.

  3. We book with spares

We put one or two positions more than the plan into the request and drop the extras once the owners confirm the rest. That keeps the local-rulebook check from delaying the campaign start.

You get back the day the address comes free and a list of neighbouring sites under the same rulebook you can take until then.

  • The release date is known in advance
  • A swap inside one RLP leaves the artwork alone
  • A lit address still goes dark from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.
